What Do I Need to Know?
Ensuring our patients are thoroughly educated and prepared for their forthcoming surgery is our principal commitment. We impart comprehensive details about the surgical process to guarantee that patients are well-informed and hold a lucid understanding of its procedure and anticipated outcomes.
Before Your Surgery
  • Work with your provider directly to schedule your procedure with us.
  • Your provider will inform you of what appointments or tests need to be completed prior to surgery.
  • Follow your doctor’s directions for taking medicine. They will tell you if you should take any or all of your regular medicines.
  • Follow any specific instructions given by your doctor. (For example, cleansing your skin with a special soap.)
  • Remove all jewelry and leave them at home (including rings) and body piercings.
  • Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing to go home in.
  • If you experience any new symptoms (fever, cold symptoms, sore throat, or chest pain) contact your provider to discuss whether your surgery should be delayed.
  • A nurse may call you prior to your procedure to review your medical history, medications, and review surgery times.

Day of Your Surgery
  • Ensure you have a responsibility adult that can stay with you overnight after your procedure if you are having any type of sedation.
  • Follow instructions regarding when to stop eating and drinking closely. Call Advanced Surgical and Restorative Care if you have any questions.
  • If you doctor wants you to take any medications, take them with a small sip of water.
  • A discharge RN will review instructions with you for taking care of yourself at home.

After Your Surgery
  • Take any medications discussed during your discharge
  • Call your doctor if you develop or have:
    • Fever
    • Poor pain relief
    • Signs of infection (swelling, redness, drainage, etc.)
    • Nausea (upset stomach) or vomiting that won’t stop
    • Problems urinating
  • If something is life threatening, seek immediate medical help.
